A woman named Christina used to clean my office. In the days following one of her cleaning sessions visitors often commented on how amazing my office felt. Knowing that I am a space clearer by profession sometimes they would ask if I had just space cleared the room.
So what is this magic Christina brought to my office? Her spirit. She brought her joy and her pure heart. She brought a sense of the sacred. From this spark of presence she took pleasure in her task and satisfaction in excellence.
Just as Christina left the flavor of her essence behind, we also leave the mark of what we bring of ourselves to any task. Be it answering email, computer programming, interacting with others, constructing a building. We stamp our projects with the essence of what we bring to the task. We stamp the room in which we performed the task. We stamp our own consciousness.
How do you create spaces of levity and joy? Anyone at any time can do a quick inventory of the things in their life that elevate their spirit. (Music, meditation, nature, adventure, learning a new language, the arts…..) Schedule more of those things into your life. Moments of joy can elevate every corner of one’s life.
“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” – Buddha
